Have your parents spread the word to friends and neighbors. Also, if you're still in school, let the guidance counselors know as some people do call schools for sitters-I used to.

How about a part time job at a daycare center.....that should lead you to lots of weekend work!!

Good Luck!

It's good to start with your parents' friends. See if any of them have little children that need taking care of. Also see if your mom can help you ask them instead. Once you get started, people will spread by word of mouth of your babysitting services.

I made flyers and handed them out to people I knew that had kids. I put on the flyer my name, adress, phone number, e-mail, rates, age, and my experiences with kids.

My Rates

1-2 kids ~ $5.00/hour
Each additional child ~ $1.25/hour

*When you are babysitting a baby under 10 months old, you should ask to be paid a bit more than your regular charge, since you must give more attention, change the baby, feed the baby, and put the baby to bed.

You should start by sitting children in the family first. Learn what things to do and what not to do. Babysitting kids can be very big responsibility. It is also a very touchy subject. You have to know what the parents expect and what they don't expect. Like knowing how to discipline the child and all those things. unless, your sitting newborns. You don't want any problems or mis-understandings.

Make up a sign on your computer with your name, age, and availability...and your phone number....then make copies and hang in elementary schools, day care centers, grocery stores, laundramats. You can also run a short ad in local newspaper. These are all things my daughter did at your age to get jobs. Good Luck :-)
