The Departed was a good movie that I do feel had some very colorful characters and was well acted. The only downfall of that movie was the ending. Not to give anything away, but it felt like they were just getting pressed for time to finish and just threw something together. The movie was well over 2 hours long and the twist over twist ending was less than 5 minutes.

Only caught 2 of the nominees for best picture. The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine. I think Sunshine was a better film. The Departed should have been better, somehow, given the director and the cast, but for some reason I don't think it reached its potential. I like Scorsese films but this one wasn't his best, in my opinion.

No, it lacked the vast canvas that Oscar-winning movies generally have. Of course as a film it was good and gripping with some great acting thrown in.

not really. i mean, scorsese is good and all, but i felt that babel had so much more to offer. maybe movies like that aren't my bag. o well. the oscar gowns were all nice :)

most years probably not . and i loved it. but i think there were no clear cut favorites this year and the academy felt like it was time to give Scorsazi the award.
