BT is quite good for phone and broadband.
You can get a package where it's 5p an hour for calls to a landline and I haven't had any trouble with the broadband.

I think Orange Wireless or Talk Talk with free broadband are both good packages on offer. Both are about £20 a month I think, but each have some issues with their phone lines.
With Orange I think you still need a BT line seperately so it does work out more expensive. They give you an internet phone with got free calls (even international, free unlimited!) but it can be a bit dodgy. My boyfriend has it so I use it fairly often, and I can't always get though on it and it drops the calls a lot. But you get Orange Wednesdays, so that's a good bonus!
Talk Talk is probably better value for money, as it includes your line rental in the £20 a month and again, you get free international calls. I have this at home, the only issue I have is that the phone line can be really weird. It always tells me a number isn't valid, I have to hit redial a few times before it will connect. You also have to dial an access code before you can make free intl calls and often it doesn't seem to work, although pressing redial once or twice always fixes it and once you get through the line is good. (this might just be me though- in fact I'm going to post a Q now to find out!) So I'd say it's less annoying than the Orange phone line, but with the Orange package you still have your normal BT line anyway and only have to deal with the annoyances if you want to take advantage of their free calls (which, well... you probably would) But Talk Talk with free broadband isn't available everywhere.

I bought a freeview box for under £25, but never used it because I was on NTL, and it now sits, fully boxed, in my garage.
If you are set on this course of action, then try Maplins - you can 'read' their catalogue on the net, and I have found over the years that they are usually the best value for money. Then try PC World.
But I am sure the bickering between Virglin/NTL and Sky will settle down very shortly, once the pennies have been sorted - battle of the giants, both jostling for position. They both have too much to lose to upset the watching public.

It wasn't NTL who were at fault,it was sky, they cut some channels off.
I think they are worried now Branson has taken over NTL,because everything he touches turns to gold, and he's also a fair man.
