For as long as I can remember, I have always had a habit of going to work unusually early. The naysayer may claim that I honestly have nothing better to do with my time than to show up to work an hour or two early .....actually, that sounds pretty accurate, but it's not quite all the humorous. I am personally convinced that going to work early will actually enable me to live a lot longer, and make me less susceptible to many mental and/or physical forms of trauma.
Here's my Theory. When you initially obtain a goldfish (whether purchased, or rewarded to you at the fair), you are instructed to leave the goldfish in it's own plastic bag of water when you are placing it into it's new fish tank. The purpose of this is to allow the water that the goldfish is accustom to, to slowly match the temperature of the fish tank, allowing the goldfish to ease into it's new environment without getting overwhelmed by the change and go into shock.

The same principles apply at work. If you show up early, but don't subject yourself to any real means of actual work, you can slowly ease into that environment without feeling overwhelmed or languished by the presence of work.

Will it really make me live longer? Probably not. Even if it does, it probably wouldn't be enough of a difference to make up for the hour or two I lose every day of my life by trying to prove the theory.
