Yeah it is cos at this point they are putting everything they can grab in their mouths but why bother? It only take minutes and as germs can get trapped in the teats and breed its a few minutes I was happy to spend.

Yes, babies need to build up immunity to germs but not sour milk!

We got a dishwasher when he was about 8 months so stopped then as they sanatise them.

Hi. It is OK, however my son is 7 months old and I still sterilise his bottles and teats. I like to keep germs and bacteria down to a minimum. I will be stopping with the sterilising in the next few weeks though!

I'm laughing at bugs spelling the word grammar incorrectly! What a cheek ha ha. Anyway - in answer to your question, I would keep sterilising until your baby is crawling - at this stage they're shoving all sorts of nasties into their mouths anyway so sterilising really makes very little difference. Until then I'd keep sterilising. But remember how gross gone-off milk is, so please continue to clean the teats very thoroughly x

In Ireland it is recommended that you sterilize the bottles and teats until your baby is 1 year old. Just think that it only takes a couple of minutes and you know your child isn't getting any germs that they won't be able to fight off. I think you should keep sterilizing for awhile yet. It doesn't take that long!!

I wouldn't like to say yes or no, in the UK we are told to steralise everything for 12 months I've only ever steralised bottles though even though its totally pointless as once babies start putting stuff in their mouth its not much use steralising but that is what we are told to do. I think in most countries though parents are only told to steralise for 3-6 months.

Generally you can stop when the baby starts crawling properly. That way you know they are already in contact with loads of bugs.
However, formula is notoriously good at harbouring bacteria so if you want to be on the safe side, carry on until the child is a year old.
