In this busy world, most people (including my partner and I) work full-time, and hardly have time to smile at each other, let alone spend time together... inevitably, this also means that our house is not as clean as either of us would like it to be, because we just don't have the motivation to spend our 1.5 days off work cleaning.

So...

1. How often would you like someone to come and clean your house? (me: probably once a fortnight)
2. How much would you like them to do? (me: vaccuuming, cleaning bath room & kitchen probably)
3. How much would you be willing to pay? (around $50 per visit)
4. How would you go about finding a trust worthy company to take care of it? (no idea! yellow pages or internet i guess).

I'm just curious to know if there are other people like me out there.

good for you. i heard someone once say that to keep a relationship happy, you are better off spending the money on a housecleaner than a marriage counsellor! not suggesting your relationship is in trouble, but at least you are being proactive. if you can afford it, get it once a week, but once a fortnight would still make a difference. jobs to be done would be anything time consuming, especially giving the floors a good clean (vacuum, mop, depending on surfaces), dusting, cleaning the bathroom thoroughly. you could always get them to do special jobs once a month or less, like cleaning the oven etc. cleaning companies usually charge by the hour, most of them would come over and if you tell them what you would like done, then they will give you a quote. if you can, get a friend or colleague to recommend, otherwise, find a larger company in the yellow pages. maybe you could get 2-3 to come and give you a quote and go with the one who you like the best, not necessarily the cheapest, but the one who you think will do the job best.

Hi there ..I am a cleaner so I will tell you what I know
1. usually once a week or once every 14 days
2. do vacuuming dusting bathrooms and kitchens as well as washing floors
3. usually charge anywhere from 30 - 45 dollars per girl /hr
4 to be a trustworthy company the employees must have a police check as well as the licencing
often it is word of mouth ask around at work and yes the yellow pages and the internet but your best bet is to ask around and find out from people who already have a cleaning service

when i was in chef school i was working part time and i had a trusty neighbour lady come in and clean for me. She would do the mundane stuff i hated like scrubbing the grout and washing the walls and anything else i hated doing i would pay her 20 bucks for an hour and i got my house cleaned 2 times a week once before the weekend (friday) and then after the weekend on tuesday. basically whatever you are comfortable with letting the cleaner do. i never let mine into my bedroom but the rest of the house was fair game.

Most services require a minimum of 3 hours once a week.Request, and check references and work out what you want done with the perspective person/persons. A general rule of thumb is to figure out what your time is worth at an hourly rate. The amount of time it takes to clean your house, and do the math.$50 a week should allow you to hire a reputable cleaner.

if you can afford a maid, hire a maid. that's what many people do when they can't get the time to clean.

If I hired a maid, I would want them to clean once a week.
I would want them to vacuum, straighten up all rooms, sanitize bathroom and kitchen, and dust.
You have to expect to pay at least 60 per visit, but if your house is larger than say 1000 sq. feet., it will be more expensive.
look for ads on bulletin boards at the grocery store, walmart, gas stations, conveneince stores. look in the paper also.
