I dont know how you could think of the planet without us. Who would do all the killing, the raping, the child abuse, and neglect of the elderly. who would fill the seas and the skies with the filth from our factories. who would do the culling of the young seal pups, the elephants who would dare encroach upon our farmland. Someone!, a woman, had the bloody cheek to ask "" should'nt we be looking at curtailing our own populations!"" Only a bloody woman would think of that!. There would be nobody to chop down the rainforest's of the earth to make way for palm oil plants so that we can create more and more pollution with more and more cars! and you ask, "is human life nessesary"? Now , with the global warming thing, all the powers that be are looking at Antartica and rubbing their hands with glee, "all that new land to exploit. Anyway I think we must be good for another ten years or so yet., that is , provided that we carry on with the good work we are doing!..

You could make the same argument about wasps and mosquito's. No life is 'necessary', its not even the point.
Humans have lived on this planet in one form or another for a hundred thousand years, we've only got really stupid over the last thousand or so and especially since we created toxic waste and pollution.

Thats down to the attitude and behaviour of a minority and its caused by greed and a psychopathic attitude.
Don't blame everyone for spoiling it. If we still lived in caves thered still be a minority making life a pain in the @rse for the rest of us.

There is nothing unnatural about humans, we are a part of nature not apart from it and we have the right to live.

Human life is a luxury that we take for granted. We have hurt Dear Mother Earth until she is screaming at us with a mixture of disasters. We were created by the Creator for purposes. One purpose is to procreate, witness, believe, pray, and do good unto others. Mother Earth we kick at all the time. She did just fine with out our kind of earthly love. We humans get too comfy with what we have and don't respect it like we should. The planet would be better off without us but it isn't happening, yet.

No, I don't believe human life to be either necessary or desirable. Planet got by just fine without us for millions and millions of years. But we are here until we completely destroy ourselves and after we are gone the planet will ultimately remove all trace that we were ever here.

There is no way to truly know.

That said the concept of "better" depends on what you mean by better.

There may be more or less species becoming extinct. Removing an entire species, even Earth-destroying homo sapiens sapiens, changes an ecosystem in extreme and unpredictable ways.

So, some questions for your question:

And what of technology? Is it "better" or "worse"? What about the people who design and use it to help the environment?

And what of your question? What if there were no life on Earth to ask it? If it would be "better" to not have the question asked then what is the point is asking it now?

I don't think that human life is necessary or beneficial to the planet.

If you weigh up the ways in which we have enhanced the natural world against the harm we have done there is no argument.

I can't think of any ways we have benefited the world and improved on nature but I can readily think of the appalling destruction we have caused by industry, war and over-population.

For something to be meaningful, intelligence and emotions are necessary. Obviously animals are just animals. They kill offsprings, old, ailed creatures of harmless species. They have no concept of beauty, they are best when they fulfill their needs. Smart you, you will say that humans do that too. Then it is our responsibility to be virtuous. I believe that even 1 person out of 100 has clear conscience, then the existence of humans is meaningful. I love people...

I can understand your response why like this. But we can correct our mistakes and make the world a better place to live in it. So what will be our aim . Firstly we are humans so our first aim is living and second aim is improving conditions or adopting them so we can live with less effort . World without us can not feel anything .: .: : :D

In my opinion ALL life are just paracites in an atomic universe, just as lichin on rocks, and why should man have to make rules for mankind, life in nature does not do this, it was mans greed in the beginning to take more than his fare share. you don't have rabbits paying council tax.!
