My somewhat selfish uncle has just left and he smoked a lot of cigars. The smell won't leave my leather settees and I don't know how to get rid of it! Obviously I cant stick them in the washer! Can anyone help?

A swab down with a solution of table vinegar in water will almost certainly do the trick.

Mix it up about 1 tablespoonful to a litre of water. Test a small area first, to be sure it does not affect the surface.

I haven't tried vinegar on leather yet, but it works like a charm for most things. It is a natural deodoriser.

Of course, open the windows to let it air, too.
