My car seems to make a humming noise when I go 60km or faster and the faster I go the louder it gets? What might this be?The car handles well and there are no rattles etc in the car its a 96 holden Barina Swing. Could it be the axel as it sounds like something in that area as it happens when wheels are going round at a spped of 60kms or more and the sound gets faster and louder the faster the car is driven/

I'm not familiar with that brand/model, but looking at pictures suggests this is a front-wheel drive car. If that is the case, then most likely your rear tires have become cupped along the outer edges and simply need to be rotated with the front tires to even out the wear. This is a very common occurrence on front-wheel drive vehicles and one that is simple to fix.

It could be as simple as the tires being worn unevenly to a problem with the wheel bearings. Did you recently rotate the tires? If so, it is probably the tires.

Check the wheel bearing. It could also be those tyres.
