47th between 5th and 6th is the jewelery district. But here's a secret...there's another jewelry district just north of Chinatown. The north side of Canal Street, and a block or so up the Bowery are filled with wholesale jewelery shops.

When buying at any of these discount places, you'd best know your stuff, if you don't want to get fleeced. If you are a novice in picking diamonds, go to Tiffany and pay the price.

OOPS...just realized I should spell it out for flatlanders. That's 47th Street between 5th Avenue and Avenue of the Americas, in Manhattan.

There's an entire diamond district right by Times Square. Even silly tourists like myself know that. Are you a diamond dealer from that area and are just trying to advertise? Ask any real New Yorker and they'll tell you where it is....but I think it's around 47th St. just E. of Broadway. Or if you don't mind ordering online, I was very happy with jewelryexchange.com.
