The movie didn't make the queen look bad. It actually made her look more human than the dignified royalty that she is. Which is a good thing coz people can relate to humans, and hardly to royalties. It's true that they can't know what the queen went through at the time of Diana's death. But they can pretty good guesses from what they've been reading about her, her previous reactions, and the way royal families are supposed to react to things. It's the most beautiful movie i have seen lately that hasn't got much junk in it and actually managed to go for more than an hour concentrating on only one theme (even the Departed was crappy at a time or two).

That film was given the official 'nod' (of approval) by the royal family. It doesn't portray her in a bad light, it tries to show why she acts the way she does. She was criticised by the press and the people of England for 'not being sympathetic' to Diana, during her life and in death---this film attempts to explain to the people that she is not cold hearted as she appears----she acts that way for a reason. I actually found the character of the Queen in this movie sympathetic, and after seeing the movie, liked (and understood) the Queen a lot more.

I agree with you. Diana was the first royal to insist her boys not be sent away to "school" and also not be raised by a thousand nannies. The Queen buckled under to those ridiculous rules. There is no excuse for the way she dealt with Diana's death. Thousands of people and zillions of flowers should have given her a clue that she needed to comfort her country. She only did it due to harsh criticism she received.

you cant beleive they made a film about Dianas death, ive seen the film and its great.
but what worries me more is that the americans have made several films about the 9/11 terrorist attacks and even one about the present iraq war, is that not a little weird?

I agree.
The British public in general have never met the Queen or Princess Diana.
They form their opinions in the same way as they pander after other celebs via the dubious material disseminated by the media.

I think I recognize you. You were in "Are you being Served", no?
Or were you "Sheridan" in "keeping Up Appearances"?
