I had a similar problem and appreciate that if you are on 6 months smears then you may be quite anxious.
If you phone the Patient advice and liaison (PALS) team at your local Primary care trust (PCT) they will be able to help you out. Let them know that you are concerned and they can chase up your results with the lab and will call you back to let you know how they are progressing. Normally if they have not been looked at this will gt them seen to a bit faster.
You can find the number for your local pct at www.nhs.uk.
Good luck x

A while ago in the North of England I think it was many women who had smears done were not properly screened and went on to develope terminal cancer.
So the Dept of Health set up an enquiry and sorted it all out and now there are a lot of new trainees coming into the job. You r smear wil have already been looked at and if there was the SLIGHTEST sign of anything nasty you would have been told by now.

Hi it can take a while i have waited 3 months for mine but they did tell me that,as they had a back log of them.
When you say "i am on 6mths smear" do you mean you have to have them every 6 months because they found ab normal cells on a previous test?
If that is the case i would not be happy at all,not fair to leave you like that.
I had a ab normal result and i had to go back for a 6 month check and i did not have to wait that long for that result.
If i were you i would complain and say it's not fair to leave you waiting like this.
Good luck

its not really good enough at all. its your health and life thats being put aside for training. last summer i had my results and it was borderline. i was so worried and thought straight away it was cancer. in december i went back for the repeat. this fortunately came back normal. i still have to go back every 6 months for a while as im still at an at risk level. I was worried while i was waiting, it took three weeks. they do take a little longer but they should still be efficient.
i called the doctor and voiced my concerns. she said that if they thought it was serious they would have dealt with it sooner. borderline schanges are not that serious and usually rectify themselves. I think that they should be more sensitive that although it is probably not serious, they should be aware that the person involved is going to be scared. Try to call your doctor and voice that you are worried and see if they can sort it. Im sure you will be ok. I felt the same as you. try to think positive.

Well they are a bit behind on results, but NOT that far behind, have you phoned the hospital yourself, to check that they do have your tests, or get your doctor to check.
Mine was late, but only by 4 weeks...

That's not acceptable. Your GP should chase this up. Normally it takes 3-4 weeks. I'll bet they have lost the results and you will need to have it done again - and you have my sympathies!
Good luck with it.

Not good at all, I would go to another doc and get another pap and make sure they are not using the same lab.
