Australia day is the day white men discovered this country and as so it should be a day of National pride and celebration. Anzac is a day when we celebrate the fact that the men who went to war in the first world war proved to the rest of the world that Australian men were great soldiers.

Australia Day is to all intents and purposes a local thing celebrating the First Fleet. ANZAC Day is so much more. It honours and pays respect to all who not only lost their lives in the First World War (1914-1918) but also pays honour to those who have given their lives and time to protecting this country and New Zealand in all fields of conflict.

Those very brave and often naive people, male and female, didn't necessarily die in the various wars but they did lay their lives on the line for the rest of us so that we could have a safe and better future.

Regardless of our political views of whether we should have been in this or that war or conflict, those who went, again regardless of their own personal views, should be payed homage on ANZAC Day and thanked for their willingness to cop it..

They are two completely separate occassions. Australia Day celebrates the birth of the country as we know it now, ANZAC day commemorates the sacrifice of our soldiers at war, a search on the web should provide you with plenty of info on both of these!
