L'amour dans le fours on Lombard. At least it was on val. day, it was like a dimly lit parisian cafe. There's also the fantasy room at Maharani: http://www.maharanirestaurant.com/. Gaylord's at Ghiradelli has such a great view it got rated in Best Places to Kiss in Northern California. I've heard Silks is romantic too, but haven't been there. http://www.mandarinoriental.com/hotel/519000039.asp

Fume Bistro in Napa. Beautiful atmosphere, great food. Or Don Giovanni or Silverado Country Club. At Silverado ask to be seated on the patio and get a gorgeous view of the eastern hills.

Le Colonial on Cosmo place [between sutter and post and between Jones and Taylor] serves Vietnamese food and great drinks in a lush interior with lots of plants and intimate nooks.

Farallon at 450 Post is a great seafood restaurant that is like eating in an undersea garden.

Boulevard on Mission at Stuart serves great food in a beautiful art nouveau interior. It can be a bit on the loud side, but still romantic.

North Beach is wonderful. They have lots of little italian places with romantic decor... The Stinking Rose (if you love garlic) is actually really romantic despite the smelly breath afterwards...but youll both be garlicky so it wont matter! Also Steps of Rome is cozy.

Good Luck!

if the weather permits pack a picnic basket and enjoy the evening air by the water or a quiet setting like a park or somewhere very pretty like watch the sun set after you eat or take a nice walk after.

I think the Olive Garden would be a nice place. But,nearly anywhere can be if you add a flower and a nice card to help the mood. Also, do'nt forget to pass out the compliments. Take care, and good luck in love.
