I've always found that people with alot of "confidence" are kind of annoying self-absorbed twits. Is this confidence? and if not, then what is confidence?

In the strictest confidence (relying on your discretion) I believe in my ability (have confidence) enough to succeed, without maligning by swindling you, in a (confidence) game and I don't mean to sound cocksure (over-confident) about that.
I value the fitness I have in tackling hardships with the certainty wrought from experience while eschewing arrogance.

Confidence is trust or faith that a person or thing is capable. Self-confidence is having confidence in oneself. Overconfidence is having unmerited confidence- believing something or someone is capable when they are not. (Wikipedia)
we need to have self confidence or else, we'll just end up lock-up in our own house not having any confidence to talk or interact with other people.

what you're thinking of is ********* which is completely different from confidence. Confidence is defined as :assurance: freedom from doubt; belief in yourself and your abilities. Basically it means that you believe that you a lot to offer and to contribute to society. Confidence is very valuable because it helps you to achieve your goals, while low self-esteem may deter you from them.

confidence is perhaps the most important value in life. some people are conceeded, yes, but the beauty of confidence is the ability to bullsh!t.

Confidence is believing in oneself and the principles one has developed for living ones' life. My principles probably have no value in anyone elses life; but, they are mine, and I will defend them.

according to me confidence means believing in urself. i dont think that confident people are annoying as such whereas they are source of inspiration to all.
the people who are overconfident are annoying.
