Does anyone know if there is a cure for narcissism? I have looked on the net and can find info on the personality disorder but nothing about a cure.

Not really a cure but maybe consider counselling together. Unfortunately people with Narcissistic personality disorder generally think there is nothing wrong with them..well as i am sure you know. It may help to give yourself insight on how to deal with it. Good luck.

I know a boy who I work with called Alex in an office, he was well educated he told me I think a world of him, it is very really Alex ever helped me, but when my boss was off and the director was off I was working with him in the office with Alex, he was keep braking the bones in his fingers, I told him that I don't like the sound of that, he told me I know Richard it is very annoying. I found that I remember one argument on the steers with Alex of something but this was going back over 20 years ago, Alex who was 17 at the time in charge of me, I thought it was normal behaver, I can see some Narcissist treats in Alex, I built a good friendship with Alex he thought the world of me but in some way always had this feeling of a self inside of him, he told me a story of a girl friend that he dislike and all the bad things about her but at the same time he showed empathy to me as he thinks his the best, but now and again if I asked for help Alex will always help but he can be very funny personality inside of him, at the same time he must have known that he had a personality and he also understand that I am a work college, it is just like I am which a friend who is a Narcissist that he welcomes me more than anybody else. It is possible what I don't know back then maybe an answer to a cure for Narcissism? Can a Narcissi Really Commit Suicide.

Psychotherapy. No other way. Btw narcissim is not necessarily a personality disorder, everyone has narcisstic parts too, its the grade of something that makes it to a functional part of the personality, a simple neurosis or a serious disorder. Narcissism isnt what most people seem to think- a love for ones self. Its a pathological fixation on an infant stage that leads to an unwilling preoccupation with ones self and to lack of objektivity. Narcissit need to be liked and approved or they feel like garbage. Btw unlike some other types of personalities, narcisstic ones generally suffer greatly and can be helped a great deal by a good personal therapist.

I think it could. I found in a link listed below that the outlook for an adult overcoming Narcissism is not too good. But, when looking at the total opposite of the trait, humble, is a term that not only is a state of mind, but it can also be a verb.

For example you or I can be "humbled". I think if a person can admit that have traits of egoism, and are willing to seek out a resolution to love someone besides themselves, they are half way to the cure.

In my opinion Narcissism is a falsehood. It is not in total truth a love only for ones self. It is an infatuation with the thought of others admiring them. What is Narcissism without peers to feed it?

Hard to say, because it's such a preoccupation with oneself Compulsions are very hard to overcome, but I would try to find help for it.Don't know about a cure, but perhaps a coping skill of some sort. I don't know for sure, but I believe you can deal with it, however, a real cure doesn't seem true, Maybe medication and counciling could make it easier to deal with, Try it, can't hurt, can make it better at least..

I would try to do things for as many people as possible. Do things that others think as beneath them such as wash someone elses feet or something like that. I feel for you, narcissism is not a good thing to have, but so many people suffer from it and dont know it. Hell some people are so in love with them selves they wont even respond to you if you say hello, or help you if you fall.

Good Luck

Narcissists are difficult to treat, but there is hope for improvement with an experienced therapist.

If one admits to having a problem & willing to change themselves due to it,it can be cured...If one can love themselves they are able to love others, once their focus is on others..Readjusting the focus is the key..

there`s no cure at all, it`s hard wired into you so just buy a big mirror and stick it over your bed.

You're working against hollywood and thats a pretty big something to be working against. You'd have to take them to a place where society can't reach them, or wait it out until they get tired of it all and look for something fresh, then they can be introduced to spirituality.
