No, you only get overtime after you put in 40hours. Since restaurants do their biggest business and biggest tips on weekends and everybody wants to work those shifts you'd never get overtime -- unless you did have over 40 hours in that week already!

No. Up here in Michigan, you have to work over 80 hours in 2 weeks. I worked several 15 hour shifts and then was taken off the board. Then only thing extra was some free food and plenty of coffee.

actually the only restaurants required to pay overtime for employee's that work over 40 hrs a week are one's that gross over $500,000 annually. mom and pop establishments are not required to.

overtime happens once you reach max hours, normally 40. never depends on the day, but the amount of hours worked for that current pay period.
