The best and safest are Steam sterilizers because the water inside get boiled inside killing germs and bacteria beside cleaning your bottles and nipples or even pacifiers.
In the other hand Microwave sterilizers they will do everything just like the steam but "They are not safe" and here's why
Plastic is very pourous and have tiny air pockets on the material itself and when you put a plastic bottle in the microwave the radioactive waves get stuck in the plastic and when you put fluids in the bottle they get released and your little one get them.
*** On another note this is fact Microwave sterilizer should not
be used in premie babies because of the same reasons
but is mainly because their body is so fragile and weak those
radioactive waves will affect their immune system.

I had a microwave steriliser and it is perfectly safe. I wouldn't get rid of your microwave either, as you will find it incredibly useful when preparing baby meals, defrosting veg puree 'ice cubes' etc.
The two disadvantages of using a microwave steriliser are that you can only fit in 4 bottles and some steam sterlisers can take 6, and you can't sterilise anything metal in the microwave steriliser.
My microwave steriliser also sterlised in 4 minutes and steam sterilisers take longer than that.
I would argue a microwave steriliser is safer because the pot with the boiling water in it is safely enclosed in the microwave and not left out on the work top where it might be knocked / pulled over.
Regarding the space issue on your work tops, although smaller than microwaves, steam sterilisers are not exactly tiny and you can ONLY use it for steam sterilising. We kept our microwave sterliser in the mocrowave and just took it out if we needed to use the microwave for anything else.
Microwave sterilisers are also cheaper, big plus point for me tbh.

I had a microwave steriliser and found it to be very convenient, clean and easy to use. I washed the bottles in the dishwasher to make sure they were washed at the hottest possible temperature, then used the steriliser. The only disadvantage I found was that the one I had could only sterilise 4 bottles (and accessories) at a time.

we used the microwave one and it is very good.
you still get steam in the microwave one.
People dont seem to realise what the microwave one is, its a dish that you some water in the bottom of, there is a grill on top to place the bottles and a lid. this then goes in your microwave, which heats up the water creating STEAM to sterilise the bottles.
works very well

Go for the microwave sterilizer:
1. You'll finally get to use your microwave!
2. It still uses some water in its own tray at the bottom. The microwave actually heats this water to HOTTER than steam (water is "superheated" in a microwave).
3. It's very easy and convenient to use.
4. IT'S DEFINITELY SAFE TO USE!!!
Good luck!

If you sterilise bottles according to the instructions on your microwave steriliser then it is safe.
I had one for my grandson and found it easy to use.
PS just dont touch the bottles when they are done as they will burn you.

well. In my opinion I use steam sterilizer than microwave it really kills all the bacteria by letting it boil for about 5-10 minutes and you can save alot on electricity.
