First pregnancy, I'm about 1 month pregnant and wanting to know is it healthy to work out while pregnant? Also would it be too soon to work out since I'm only over 4 weeks, will it be safer after 12 weeks? By the way, before finding out I was pregnant, I probably lost 10lbs, without doing a minute of excersice, is that normal?

there are fitness centers that offer exercise programs for pregnant women. i think they can answer better on when will be the best time for you to start. but you have to check with your doctor first if it will be okay for you to have exercise classes.

Before beginning a new type of exercise, talk to your OB first to make sure it is OK, if he or she says it is OK and the pregnancy is not high risk, go for it. You can do the same exercise you did before you got pregnant just don't go over the top with it.The more active you are during pregnancy the easier childbirth will be. I exercised throughout both of my pregnancies and have 2 beautiful healthy children.
It is normal for some women to lose weight at first. You are only likely to gain 2 to 4 pounds in the first trimester. Total weight gain (if your BMI was normal before pregnancy) should be about 25-35 pounds.
Good luck and congrats!

You can exercise during your first trimester unless the doctor says you have a high risk pregnancy, at which point he will put you on bedrest and exercise won't even be an option. Exercise during pregnancy should not be strenuous at any time. It should be something light but beneficial, such as walking, swimming, or yoga. Start as soon as possible as it will be harder to get into a new routine once your body is bigger and heavier...it is MUCH more healthy to exercise while pregnant than not to, and get started right away!

Also, it's pretty normal to lose some weight in the first trimester, due to morning sickness and food aversions and sensitivity to smells. It won't hurt baby as long as you're eating nutritious foods. Good luck!

Of course! Exercising while you are pregnant is good for both you and your baby as long as you don't overdo it. It keeps you healthy and studies show that women who exercise during pregnancy have an easier time losing weight after they give birth. Every pregnancy has different risk levels so you should ask your doctor how much exercise is right for you. My doctor gave me a list of exercises that I could do so you can also ask your doctor what he/she recommends. There are also many prenatel exercise classes in gyms and videos to do at home, or you can just go outside for a walk on a nice day.
There are also special exercises for mothers on bedrest that you can do laying down and aren't too strenuous.

Exercise is an important part of everyone's lives...even the mother-to-be!
