Will modern society break through oil shortages, and come out with ever more effecient technology or will people be forced to return to low tech living?

In 100 years only the disgustingly rich will be able to afford cars and motorized transport.
The ignorant masses will mostly ride electric trains powered by distant nuclear fuel fired plants.
The disgustingly poor will resort to walking mostly and horseback riding some.. especially in remote areas where electric trains are not feasible.

Given the current rate of degeneration and over-population, human beings will not be here in 100 years. A testimonial to humankind's stupidy is the failure to do anything about the world's over-population. The planet earth is the host with finite resources, and people are the parasites, procreating at an alarming pace, and the host is being destroyed. Guess what happens to the parasites?

Absolutely, answer A, but the energy source will be different. Ethanol will be coming on line shortly, I've even see a car that runs on sea water. Very cool looking. It will take some time to be mass produced, but we are coming along.

As to cars, we need to something for national security and our health if for no other reason. as to planting...everyone will be to busy sitting in front of these computers or TV to get off their butts and do the work!
