I had sex with my boyfriend before my marriage. After marriage my husband recognised that I was not virgin. Now He has started torturing me. He is always mentioning that his life is finished due to me only because I was not virgin. But I am a committed woman. He is also torturing my parents by words. He is now in abroad. From there he delivered so many slang words to me and my parents over mail. In his mail, he has also mentioned that every bad thing whatever he is doing is due to that reason only. Now he stopped mailing. I told him several times that I am sick. But no reply, no phone. I informed his parents that I am sick. They are not also calling me. his parents and I reside in India. he is in Angola. Tell me whether I should show the documents as the proof of mental torture for filing divorce. I don't want to go for divorce. But I am puzzled now. Again I think if I don't go for divorce, then future might be miserable for me. Please suggest me

I don't know what the laws are in india, But I do know you must get away from this man and cut all ties. If you have lawyers in your country GET ONE!....That is the best advice you can get from anyone . You don't know what your options are untill you know the law. I agree with you if you do not get a divorce this man WILL make your life miserable, he is doing that right now!
yes speak to a legal person and get the divorce!!!!
I wish for you the best that life has to offer, be happy and take care of yourself....

Peace

Dear friend,

Your husband is so very mean & it is better for you to apply for a divorce & be away from him. There is no way that a man can find out, whether a girl is a virgin or not. It is only your guilt, that is prompting him to be so rude.

As you are now faithful & want to lead a happy married life, try to reason it out with your husband. If he does not agree, then seek legal help. Let this desperation not lead you to take any drastic step. After the seperation, look for a decent boy, who is really broad minded, and get married to him.

Good luck.

There is no excuse whatsoever, for what the man is doing to you. The divorce laws in India have been liberalised now, and grounds like incompatibility are also being accepted, unlike what it was some years back, where the only ground for divorce was infidelity. You have a very strong case for divorce, and my suggestion to you is go right ahead. No person should be forced to live a life of misery, much less so if it is self-imposed.

Dear sister,if what you wrote is true, it is difficult to convince such a person it is advisable to divorce him outright! it is ultimately for you to decide if you think a reconciliation is possible try it out by involving good family friends from both sides or make arrangements to meet a good lawyer and serve a divorce notice on him as now we have enough laws to frame him, infact where are you from actually?take your friends into confidence as a moral support during the proceedings as you will need tremendous mental support, anyway you are lucky for being issueless, feel free to contact me for moral support,denissvivek@yahoo.co.in

Premarital, extramarital or unwed sexual activities are not barred / prohibited and are no offence in any Indian law. Wife’s sexual intercourse with other/s is also no offence, hence no prosecution or punishment to her. Even her sex partner also cannot be punished, if was unaware of her wedlock or had sex with consent or connivance of her husband. However the police cannot arrest or prosecute him. After divorce also her husband is bound to maintain or pay till she remarries, even if she is permanently / continuously enjoying sex with all other/s. Pre marital sexual experiences (intercourse / coitus) with other/s cannot be a ground to seek divorce under Hindu/Special Marriage Act. Thus a female’s physical sexual relations with persons/s of her choice (with their consent) is not an offence or prohibited / barred in any Indian law and she is at liberty to enjoy SEX freely and fearlessly. A male’s physical sexual relations with any 16+ female (with her consent) is no offence or barred / prohibited in any Indian Law, unless she is in the wedlock of somebody else and is done knowing her wedlock or without her husband’s consent or connivance. Courts are bound to believe that all children born during the wedlock (or within 280 days of court's divorce judgment/ decree) are her husband’s legitimate ones. He is bound to maintain or pay them expenses; till sons are 18+ and daughters are married. Prostitution (commercial sex trade, offering sex for monetary gain) alone is an offence punishable in Indian laws. Yet no Station House Officer, Officer In Charge or Inspector of Police can arrest, enter, search or seize.

File for divorce on grounds of mental cruelty. Submit all the mails he has sent you as evidence. When the divorce is granted, send him the decree by post and invite him to die in a fire.

Since he's putting the blame on you for not being a virgin on everything that went wrong, drop him and move on with your life. In today's modern society, I can't see why he needs to emphasised so much on virginity. By the way, was he a virgin on his wedding night? Be courages, move on.
