Actually all creature not onlyh monkeys must be inhibioted in laboratory experiments, but with the need of human discoveries we tried using these creatures as a mere source of new discovey w/c must not be. We are similarly comp[ared to monkeys since they have said that we eally came from mrights for animals?
In our society, animals are considered resources, or goods available for human use. Rarely do we give any thought to the suffering of animals, or reflect on our attitudes towards them. While we show some concern for certain animals (such as dogs, cats, and some wild creatures), most others are treated with total disregard. But an animal need not be "cute" or human-like to have the ability to feel. A trout, a pig, a chicken, a frog or a lobster all have the capacity for experiencing joy or suffering pain or distress. Their lives matter to them as much as our lives do to us, and they will defend themselves if they can. Whether someone is male or female; black, white or green; has two legs or four; swims, flies or walks, is irrelevant when it comes to the consideration we owe them all... more

It depends on what kind of research. Monkeys being so close a match to human DNA, there is a lot we can learn from them about where we came from. There are many laws out there (rightfully so) that protect this sort of species from any gene test, chemical test and basically anything that involves altering the animal in any way. They still do this in other countries such as China and parts of Africa (countries with no laboratory morals). We do protect them here in the states though.

Define 'higher mammals'. And then decide if a few monkey's lives are equivalent to a few human's lives - or a few million human's lives. Scientists aren't torturing animals for the fun of it - they are saving lives.

All animal testing should be outlawed, it is cruel, unusual punishing of innocent helpless animals. Most testing can be down via computers. If computers can land space craft with precision, they can calculate drug tests in addition to lab test tubes. It`s time the people woke up to the immense inhumanity performed on lab animals, which actually have no similarity to humans, especially dogs, cats and rabbits and yes primates too.
Enough is enough, torture be damned.

well if we have rights then every other living being have rights too.
but like everyother living being does we should look after our own first , it is the basic trait of every living being.
i belive in rights for animals , but not in extremity , there should be a line obsession and love for animals, and if something goos comes out of using the animals then why not

i agree. they are our cousins. we should treat them with respect because they are beginning to feel emotions if you are up to date with primates. We should just test the affects of drugs with humans to see if it would work on us.
