ok i'm about three days late on my period I told my parnter and he tried to basicly jump start it, my question is how long will it take to work? my partner said it could be a few hours or days. if I don't get my period at the end of this week should i take a prengnancy test?

Having sex won't bring on your period. Don't know where he heard this one. Maybe he just wanted some, hehe. Maybe the thought behind it was an orgasm would bring uterine contractions which could cause your period to start? I don't know, never heard of that one, usually it's sex to jump start labor. Nothing's going to start your period except hormonal changes, and if you're pregnant, that's not going to happen. Go ahead and take a test. If your period is already late, a positive result is 99.5% accurate and a negative is 95%. They're not that expensive. Get one now so you'll know what's going on with your body.

hehee sorry but you can't make yourself have a period. It could be simply a few days late. you're boyfriend seems to just want more sex, and more sex means more of a chance of not having a period due to falling pregnant!
But without going into all the If's and but's, if you wait more than 2 weeks without getting your period then i would recommend taking a pregnancy test to make sure. it could be just late but tests aren't always correct if taken only a week after the due date so wait a few weeks and the test will soon tell you whether you're pregnant or not!!

That's a myth you 'jump start' it. Periods are a decline of estrogen levels in the body, which results in muscle contractions; not the other way around. Better get a pregnancy test.

Sounds to me like he is horny and glad you haven't started yet and he is using it as an excuse to have sex. Sounds like my husband. :O) I would take a test after you are a week late. If you are pregnant, ask him if he is still glad you havn't started yet. :O)
