In the past couple of months, my period has been declining. My last normal period was in December 2006. It was the normal four days long. In January, it was only three days. In February it was only one day-it was almost like a noon to noon period. Now I haven't had a period yet.
I normally would not even worry, but my period comes every month on the same day and I start right around the same time.
My doctor has started me on birth control pills, but I am afraid to take them if there is the possibility I could be pregnant.
What could be the cause of the decline in my period. My doctor is not concerned at all with it, and cannot begin to offer an explanation. She is telling me this is normal.
My period has been normal for almost a year now, with the exception of the pregnancy/miscarriage.

I am 22 years old, going on 23 in April. I have been on the pill for almost a week. I had a pap smear just a week or so ago, and it was normal.
The only abnormal things right now with me are: elevated blood sugar, and some serious nosebleeds. Other than that, I feel fine. I do not feel pregnant. I would like to be, but I was told that it would be hard for me to carry a child because of a IUD perforating my uterus, and all the miscarriages after that.

I would see a gyno or a endocrinologist (hormone specialist). You question does not tell use your age. Are you close to menopause? In case you are younger and only started you periods in the last few year I would get it checked as this could be early sign of poly cystic ovaries. If your doctor cannot offer an explanation find someone else. Never settle. When was your last pap smear? I think you need a complete medical history done with a series of blood test etc. At least if nothing shows it could be your body adjusting to life and its stresses.

TAKE A PREG TEST. AS LONG AS YOU ARE HAVING A PERIOD YOU ARE SHEDDING THE UTERUS LINING. BUT YOU MAY NOT BE SHEDDING ALL OF IT. IFYOU ARE ALREADY ON BIRTH CONTROL YOU WILL HAVE SHORT PERIODS. ARE U MENOPAUSAL? I DON`T SEE AN AGE, BUT THAT CAN ALSO SHORT THE CYCLE, HOPE I HELPED.
