Well a leader can tell his followers what to do, but they will respect him more & are more likely to do his will if he leads by example. Actions speak louder than words. Jesus is a perfect example. He told us to love one another, to forgive, to turn the other cheek & he did so himself. He didn't ask us to do anything that he wasn't doing himself.

People follow by example.
Those living, doing, and thinking, are adhering the line of examples. That is, we follow the examples, set by whomever that deserve our attention and compliance. The concept of “follow by example” is not new, but invigorates in better means for others to imitate and improved in ever change toward perfection. In fact, those innovations in the past centuries and likewise the current, owes their usefulness by adhering to examples.
On the negative side, “follow by example “ have influenced the mindset of most into degradation. The trend of indulgence, where the want of luxury, pleasures, consumption of drugs, and sensuous pleasures, are eroding the socio-cultural values.

STOP, right there. Let us settle one thing. GOD DOES NOT TELL ME WHAT TO DO......He is not my task master. The so called RULES you imply are just guidelines for me to follow but only if I wish. I have this free-will to do as I choose. Not all people follow examples...some invent things in this world. Some think so far outside the box that they are going to the beat of their own drum. Do humans only follow examples? We can't do something unless we are shown? I set some of my own examples in my life. I am neither leader or follower...I am me; fulfilling my purpose in life.
I didn't mean to scream ....I just wanted your attention! ) I applaud that we can agree to disagree. Isn't is great to just share our ideas? You prompted ; I replied. Have a great day and Bless.

Children follow by example, as a result they grow up into adults and whatever they learned and saw as children that is what kind of people they turn out to be.
So automatically people do follow by example. They just don't realize that it is from their childhood. Whether it be religion, atheist, correct morals, thieves, upstanding citizens. etc.

...you can do it your way all you want to... you have a free will and you will will not be interfered with... do as you want... remember tho... consequences for disobedience... and remember... "we" all will, one day, step into "Eternity"...no one gets out alive... consider this... if you are right...fine, have at it... but what if you're not... 50-50...? me...? I'm gonna "hedge my bet" and believe that there is "something" beyond this life and trust in a Savior who, promises to give me eternal life... what have I lost...? well, using the 50-50 theory...maybe eternity... I'll "hedge my bet"... it's fee, it don't hurt and it comes with promises... Hallelujah !!!
