Michael Jordan was just one guy but his impact on his team brought Chicago 6 NBA titles. Willis Reed was just one guy but the moment he played a few minutes in the NBA Finals against the Lakers with an injury lifted his team's morale and won the Knicks the championship.
It's the same thing with Wade. Without Wade, Miami looks lost and there's a big crack in both their offense and defense. Not to mention the fact that the Heat's perimeter guys get open looks at the basket when Wade penetrates down the lane.
Wade's got too much pride to just sit back and watch his team struggle. He will return to play either the last few games of the season or when the playoffs start.

I agree with you, he should get surgery and sit out the rest of the season.
Even if he was 100% healthy I don't see the Heat going all the way. The finals will be won by a team in the west (Dallas or San Antonio).
He suffered a serious injury and the chance that he will recover in time to make any kind of difference is pretty low. If he tries to come back before he is ready he could just make it worse.
It's not worth risking permanent damage for a slim chance of making an impact in the play-offs. He's got a long career ahead of him and will probably have another shot at the title.

I don't know too much about the situation (probably because I am a Pistons fan) but when I was watching the Golden State game (big disappointment) they had an update on DWade. Apparently he decided not to have the operation to correct to problem so he is going to go through massive amounts of physical therapy. As far as I know he is planning on sitting out the rest of the season and his return for the playoffs is still questionable. However, in my opinion, I think he will be back for the playoffs.

Wade proves to be the toughest player I can see. He knows if he sits, there is no chance for Miami to be back-to-back Champion. With him on the court, Miami will still have a chance. It is wrong to think that he is just one guy, he motivates the team with his attitude and leadership! Afterall, Compare with the Bulls - if Jordan sat out those games when he was sick or injuried, Bulls will not have 6 Championships.

its an interesting question. Miami truly has no chance of repeating
without wade. so the question comes down to should he try to
play, not at full strength, and see how far they can go, or have the
surgery and start preparing for next year at full strength. considering
he might further create damage by playing hurt i think the smart
thing is to think about next year. no one is a bigger fan than me but
one year versus a career always seems wise.

He is a great player, and the Heat need him. However, I think the other players will step up in his absence when they get into the playoffs.

he is just one guy,but he contributes to nearly every point his team scores. and if the heat makes the playoffs, they are a dangerous team with wade playing. think the pistons are shaking now?
