I have to do a behavioral observation for my psych class, which will involve choosing a particular behavior that I want to observe, operationalizing the behavior that I will be looking for and reporting my results (whether or not I actually saw the behavior I was seeking). The child must be between 4 and 10, and doesn't have to know that I'm watching (could be in a mall, park, etc.) Does anyone have any good ideas on behavior I should look for?

The best place 4 u to make a better behavioral observation is @ McD's. You'll have ur control grp. & non-control grp. You'll find out what power McD's has over several kids when they try to take them out of that playyard & go home. You'll see a crap load of kids throwing the biggest fit regardless of culture, race, color & class. It maybe funny byt it's a realization.

Maybe your paper should be about "How popular fastfood chain effects the behavior of a child in America"

I can suggest looking for something in your subject that all the other children do not pocess, then you will have found a perfect subject and the assignment should be a one hit wonder! God Bless You and Keep On Fighting The Good Fight!

you could try observing altruistic behaviour among 4-6year old children and how they exhibit this behavior to others, and how their significant others helped their being altruistic, i.e. when they see beggars or homeless people on the street what do they do, how will they react.

good luck...

you should narrow it down. i mean specify. like, girls or boys. at 4 to 10 children can learn to differ and understand. that's how they react to certain things. their social background can affect how they behave too. good luck.
