His skin color wouldn't influence my vote. I've always believed in ability. Whether you're a man or a woman, black or white, Asian or Hispanic, if you can do the job, you're qualified.
Obama is a great man. He's also a great leader, a great public speaker and very smart. He seems to be the type of guy who won't dip into the hate politics that has flooded our political campaigns during every election, whether it's a midterm or presidential election.
The only knock on Obama is that he doesn't have "experience." I think his time in the U.S. Senate, as well as the State Senate in Illinois should suffice. He's becoming very knowledgeable on foreign policy matters and certainly has equipped himself with plenty of opportunity and the chance to make everyone excited.
As for Hillary, that will help Obama a lot. There's many Democrats/Liberals who dislike Hillary. In a primary, she could probably lose to Obama and Obama would get the party's nod. But if Hillary was the Democratic candidate for President of the United States, Dems would vote for her. The way things look right now, The top Democratic candidates look better than anything the GOP has to offer. I think you have to figure Obama is at the top (or near it) of that list.

I will vote for him because he seems bright, atriculate and more in touch with the people than Hillary. I feel that he will act in the best interests of ALL people. If his skin color was green I would still vote for him. Skin color is not important to me.

The color of a person must not be the basis for voting. The qualification and sincerity of the candidate to serve the country must be the criteria to select the President.

Skin color is totally irrelevant! First of all, if one considers him because he is black, then they are choosing someone who is representing a minority, which isn't a very good reason. Second, just because Barack is half black, he doesn't seem very "black." He seems like a down-to-earth, plain Chicago resident. Skin color definitely won't influence my vote!

He's not that experienced, which in my book, automatically revokes his vote. If it were a race between him and Senator McCain I would vote for McCain because experience matters, and unfortunately, Obama has had little. By the way, I am a very left wing democrat.

While my decision to vote for him is based on his qualifications, political views, and charisma, I can see people being attracted to the concept of the first African American president. It would be a tremendous symbol of progress for the country.
I maintain that it shouldn't be a motivating factor though. Vote for him or against him because of who he is, not what color his skin is.

I'm one of the most non-prejudice persons on this planet and ironically, I admit it does. BUT, not the way you think. Not because he is African American. I have a problem with him being half-white but proclaiming to be running as the first black man as president.

Hahahaha.
You were the ONLY one in a crowd of black people who did not think of the color of his skin and it looks like you're white?
Please give us a break!!!!!
If you were not harboring racist thoughts you will not even post this question.
Ethnicity and religion are ALWAYS an issue and everyone on this board know it too!!!.
