I believe so. I mean as a mature person you know that there are certain things that you should and should not do. For example if you see an elderly person regardless if they were male or female and they were struggling to get out of the snow. Your Common Sense will tell you this person needs help. If your child fell down and at first you stayed back because you don't want them to become co-dependent but as you stand there you see your child go into a frantic state, hopefully your Common Sense will tell you to go and pick up your child and to check and see if there is anything physically wrong or to even take them to the doctor just to make sure everything is OK.
Even though we are all different there is a common ground that we share which is Common Sense. True we all do not use them regularly (I should say they) but over all yes there is such a thought........... Common Sense do exist. It's up to you to decide whether or not you are going to use it.

Yes of course there is such a thing as "Common Sense" A person can be very intelligent because they have common sense. If I remember right the S.A.T. questions were mostly common sense questions. I was amazed at how many of the questions some of the brightest kids in my class lost. I was not the smartest grade wise but not the dumbest either but I scored high on the S.A.T.test.

yes there is such a thing. i would say it's something that you just know- you don't have to be taught it to know it...wow i suck at creating definitions.
"A form of evidence that is based on conventional wisdom, tradition, or someone’s personal philosophy or perspective. It is hard to judge the validity and reliability of common sense because little supporting evidence is involved. Most people judge the validity and reliability of common sense by the person citing common sends as the basis for a decision. However, common sense can be a very biased approach to decision making and means nothing more than “what is common to me makes sense.”"

Yes, there is, but sadly so few people use it that people have forgotten what it is.
I can't imagine where I'd be without it. I'm so tired of seeing the Earth deteriorate before my eyes. The fact that "My Super Sweet 16" is not too far from how a lot of people live saddens me. We have become so involved in Britney Spears lack of hair that we forget about our lack of daily common sense.
There are some things that no one should have to teach you. Things like how to treat other people, and why we should be civilized. But no one cares about it anymore.
So... all in all, common sense is the stuff that you don't learn in school, but still should learn.

The term, like Genius, has been altered over the years.
Common Sense was, according to the ancient Greek Philosophers, the generally acknowledged founders of modern thought and science, termed what is the focal point of communication between the common original factor [Logos], and the body of the individual. A person thus exposed to "common sense", had universal sympathy, and knowledge beyond the immediate age and time, but instead gained knowledge of what was always true. Genius, is the Latin [Guardian Angel] for the same notion.
The modern terminology is more a reference to presumptuous notions, and dogmatic cultural views, and someone relating to others lack of it, is in fact demonstrating their lack of sympathy of intent to remedy, instead favoring their belief to be superior in their knowledge, and being of no help to others in belittling them. The originals are not entirely forgotten in certain uses, but for the most part, the nobility of the former use has degraded.

"Common Sense" is the sound practical judgment that is independent of specialized knowledge, training, or the like; normal native intelligence. Common sense is something you've been taught by parents, grandparents, or yourself to know the difference between right and wrong. It's all about a person's morals and qualities as a person which sets them apart from everyone else.

Perhaps it's an easier concept when you think about people who do not possess common sense. They have book knowledge, but no practical application of that knowledge in society. Without common sense, they tend to alienate those around them and further isolate themselves from society. Some can break out of their shell and learn common sense through paying closer attention to those around them. Street sense or street smarts is a similar concept.

Common sense (or, when used attributively as an adjective, commonsense, common-sense or commonsensical), based on a strict deconstruction of the term, is what people in common would agree: that which they "sense" in common as their common natural understanding. Some use the phrase to refer to beliefs or propositions that in their opinion they consider would in most people's experience be prudent and of sound judgment, without dependence upon esoteric knowledge or study or research, but based upon what is believed to be knowledge held by people "in common". The knowledge and experience most people have, or are believed to have by the person using the term.
