I'd like I way to be able to easily be able to play my Podcasts, but then flip over to music when I want to relax. Thanks for any help!

I don't think you can do anything on iPods without iTunes (they're tricky like that). But iTunes is a free download, and it does handle podcasts. You can go to apple.com and get it. You should even be able to get older ones if you have an older operating system. It's not that large a file (I have dialup, so I understand how that can be). You can also browse the support section there if you need more help with your shuffle. But if you have more details, you can add them and I'll try to check back and edit my answer. My sister has a first gen shuffle. I'm a little confused about your plan, though, because I thought a first gen shuffle could only accept one playlist at a time (although it can be a very large one).
