I am not sure it should be cancelled but maybe a real shake up is needed. Real life is depressing enough but by the time I have watched an Eastenders episode I am almost suicidal.
Also, nowadays there is no suspense. If you can't wait for the end of a storyline you can pick up a magazine & the storylines are all over them. Not only current ones but future stories also.
Bring back the days if "Who is Michelle's baby's Dad?". They made it a real cliff-hanger & also in the past there used to be humour in it which is absent now.

I don't think it should be cancelled whilst there are still a lot of people who like watching it. That would be unfair on them.
Anyone who doesn't like it should just not watch it. I haven't watched it - or any of the soaps - for over 2 years now and I used to watch Eastenders, Coronation Street and Emmeradale without fail. It's so much better not being tied to the TV for at least an hour every evening!

We pay our television licences for the BBC to give us crap like Eastenders on a primetime slot, when we get much much better soaps in the form of Emmerdale and Coronation street on ITV, and brilliant programmes like Shameless which should be made into a soap on channel 4! They should get rid of Eastenders, then ITV wouldn't have to split my corrie fix into 2 on a Monday night!

I must be in the minority here. I love Eastenders (current ex pat from the U.K. living in Spain). For all those people who don't like certain programmes, there is always the 'off' switch or a quick flick of the remote control to another channel. I don't like football, so I don't watch it, there are plenty of other channels to watch.

Cancell Eastenders, Coronation Street, Emerdale, and all the other soaps. It's all rubbish clogging up the airwaves.

Not only should it be cancelled, but those pathetic daytime shows should stop talking and writing about it as if it were some kind of documentary. Plus sack those soap opera critics.

I know lots of people who like it so no, but I find it dreadfully depressing and would rather watch Emmerdale or Corrie as although they have dark storylines too they inject a bit of humour something thats very lacking in 'Enders!

Remove all soaps from uk tv this would be my gift to the country use the time wisely....show reruns of the A-Team
