The job is actually in a retail industry and I was thinking of producing a resume with a boarder and graphics printout to show them my creative skills. Though, i'm not sure if it's neccessary or does not change the way the interviewer thinks of me. What do you think?

Focus first on making sure you don't have any typos like "boarder" on the resume -- I have thrown resumes out just b/c they have a typo and stopped interviews to let the person know I could not hire them when they hand me a resume or sample document with a typo. My favorite was one resume that said the person was "meticulous with attention to detali."

The border and graphics will not add but just take away from the seriousness of your application. Go without it and work on the core strengths of what a resume is supposed to do: highlight your key skills and experience relevant to how you help meet the prospective employers goals.

Good luck!

Some people do do that to get their resume to stand out. Depending on the person reviewing them it may help or hurt you. But in most cases it will hurt because it draws the attention away from your resume and onto the graphics.

In general you want them to be professional looking, but if the position you are applying for requires creativity it might be fine to do that. Remember the resume represents you so be sure you proof your resume and probably even have another set of eyes look it over.
