I asked a question last week on any topics I could use for a persuasive speech, I received 2 answers so it really wasn't much help. My problem now is that the speech is due tomorrow and I still have no idea on what to write it on or how to even start the outline for it. My teacher told me to read chapter 13, well I've done that 3 times now and I'm still lost for words.
Can someone please give me some, any advice that will help me not flunk this class?????
Thank you so much!!

In a persuasive speech, you want the other person to adopt your opinion. So choose a subject where maybe you have a friend that thinks otherwise and then give your reasons for your opinion and address your friend's reasons, showing why they may be in error and should adopt your opinion. It could be a trivial subject or a serious one, doesn't matter, the logic is the same.
I remember doing a speech on smoking. I borrowed a cigarette to hold up for shock effect. (This was a school where no smoking was allowed.) There are plenty of reasons not to smoke and also alternatives for the reasons people do smoke.

A persuasive speech should entertaining. Humor would give a boost. There are also things to consider. Like the tone of your speech, the pitch, dynamics, and mood. You should be able to make eye contact to your listeners. You must also consider that there might be people who disagrees with you. Find the people who looks at you that seems to be agreeing with you. I hope I was able to help.

You haven't given very specific info as to what your speech needs to be about. Can it be anything? Is it a persuasive speech? argumentative? Pick any topic, for example....cheese doodles. Why cheese doodles are good? How they compare to other cheesy goodies. Pros and cons of eating too many cheese doodles. Long and short term effects...etc. Hope that helps...good luck. Personally, I hate public speaking.

Why not pick something nobody knows about? You can use pictures and visuals to go with it. I can suggest something I'm passionate about and that is my health, I have lymphedema, which you probably have no clue what it is. If you'd like you can use my site, http://www.lymphland.com print the pictures out the lymph nodes, and you could argue to persuade the class that these people need healthcare and why, show examples with pictures of lymphedema on my site and the net, etc. Just a thought.
