We used Crye-Leike, which is a big real estate company down here ( http://www.www.crye-leike.com ) when we moved down here and considered buying.

My husband and I made the decision though, since we didn't really know enough about Memphis when we moved last summer to just rent a house for the first year, and we used Enterprise Property Management and were happy ( http://www.epmleasing.com/ ).

A couple suggestions that we didn't know before we moved down, so we are glad we didn't end up buying because we would have bought wrong. Don't buy in Cordova. It is cheaper, but as you'll see, there are a ton of houses on the market, and I believe you'll have a hard time selling again, unless you are definitely planning on staying at least 8 or so years.

The schools are a concern, which is why so many houses are for sale because many of these towns are being annexed by the City of Memphis, which tends to bring down the school system quality. Most people in Memphis send their kids to a private school, if they can afford it, because schools aren't that great, if you have kids.

The suburb towns that are good to live in because they are incorporated are Lakeland, Bartlett (a little cheaper, but has some rough parts), etc. Germantown is another great one.

Good luck! I hope you are happy in your move. We miss the Northeast quite a bit, but Memphis is a good place.

My favorite real estate website is www.crye-leike.com

I am not affiliated with them at all, but I did use their site a lot when looking for my home in Memphis. I love the advanced search - you can narrow by zip code, neighborhood, etc. It shows all realtor's listings, too -not just those offered by Crye Leike. Most listings include multiple pictures and neighborhood information. You can also search for the prices that nearby home sold for.

Good luck - welcome to Memphis! I hope you like it as much as I have.
