i think my spouse would insist that i save our child.

Oh my God!
I cannot answer that.
As I do not have any children and always wanted one...
... and finally had one with the love of my life, I would probably choose to save my child`s life over my spouse`s but would live a guilt-ridden existence until the day I die.
I think I would save both my child and my spouse and choose to die instead of them because my life wouldn`t be worth living if I lost either one of them.
It would be an easier choice if I knew that one of them was suffering from an incurable illness and only had a few weeks or months to live.
Damn! That was a tough one!

My child because they haven't lived out their life yet, or at least not as much as your spouse. People break up and divorce all the time, but your child will always be there. Your child is like a part of you.

Child first.
Your spouse is an adult and can look out for him/her self. The child depends on you to protect it.
I could eventually get over losing a spouse, but if I could have saved my child's life and didn't, I would never get over the guilt.

I would pick my spouse, as a couple we could have another child together. At least this is what I think right now. I may have another idea later.
