I can't speak for Florida, but I have a credential in California in math with a rider for physical science. There are a couple of ways to do it, but the most common is to have a degree in the subject you want to teach, then take education classes to fulfill the credential requirements. I took my Bachelor's, then did a fifth year at Cal State Hayward (which included student teaching) to get my credential.

What specific classes you need depend on how busy the State legislature has been recently. In my case, it amounted to about ten credits per semester for three semesters, but about every three years, the legislature decides something needs to be done about education, which usually results in a mess (word chosen deliberately) of bills adding requirements to the credential process. If you contact the Department of Teacher Education at any CSU campus, they can fill you in on the current details.
