I am sure each H.S. has it's own policy. I am sure that they do evaluate each individules past record before they make a decision on how to deal with you. If they do decide to suspend you then it definitly goes on your permanent record.

But there is something more important to ask. You have to ask YOURSELF!! Why did I forge my parents signature? Obviously you skipped school that day for reasons that your parents would not approve of. I am sure you did nothing criminal. I am sure that you really are a good kid other wise you would not care about your record.

Is it possible that you have some friends that are not a good influence on you? If this is the case then you are to good for them, and you should stay away from them in the future.

If it was something that you really had to take care of and you were afraid to tell your parents, then you should try to develope a better relationship with them to enable you to communicate with them. If this is not possible, I would go to either the guidance councler at school, or someone that you trust, and respect either an uncle, aunt, or pastor so that you have someone to guide you.

Teenage years, are very difficult. Teens have good, and bad days. Teens have feelings they don't know how to deal with.

You are a wise young adult to worry if this will go on your permanent record. So don't throw your future away, and find a confidant that you can discuss any problem that does come up.

It is possible that I analyzed your question to deeply, but if I did "hit it on the head" then I am glad that I was able to give you some advice for your future.

Don't do it; it's not worth it. Let me tell you now; a few years from now you'll look back and realize that.

Now, if you've already done it, it's probably not the end of the world. Don't try to hide it if asked about it. While I don't know whether it will actually go on with you to college, you could probably lose it by taking your courses at a community college, then transferring.

I think the biggest issue is forging your parent's signature. That could be considered criminal, however I doubt your high school would do anything about it. While attendance in college is usually not mandatory (if ever), forging someone's signature in college, at work, or anywhere in the "real" world is a huge mistake!

Well, first it is a stupid and irresponsible thing to do. If you're going to skip school, then you should be willing to accept the consequences of your actions. Most likely the school counselor or vice principal will call your parents. You could get suspended, or if it's your first offence of any kind, just get a warning. Some schools have Saturday school to make up missed classes (picture Breakfast Club the movie). It is likely to go in your records, but unless you're going to a really hoity toity college, most colleges only look at your transcripts (grades) and not your "file". As a minor, your parents have to release your records before any other school can look at them anyhow. So it's not likely to affect your chances of getting into college unless you skip school so much that you're grades suffer. However, let me say that it's not very responsible to skip school. It's also dishonest to forge a note from your parents. You'd have to deal with the guilt of those actions, but you aren't likely to have "long term" consequences from a legal or scholastic standpoint. I imagine MANY students forge notes from their parents. And probably a whole lot of them don't care. It sounds like you DO care. Let that influence what you choose to do.

Didn't you already ask this? You have a strong chance of getting an OSS. You'll get your referal. Your parents will be notified. It will go on your school record. If it's not your first offense then the school could suggest expulsion. As for college I wouldn't worry about it. It didn't effect me at all and I got into a great college.

I second the previous answer.

As for college, if it isn't a grade, then it isn't part of your transcript...
