In Things Fall Apart is anything symbolic in chapter 12 thats when Obierika's daughter is celebrating her uri (somthing like a wedding)?

There is something uniquely symbolic. A cow appears and the women leave cooking pots and rush out to drive it away. Now, there is nowhere in the novel where you encounter presence of cows.
The method of using sticks to negotiate bride-wealth is also symbolic. Recall the section about dogs"if I fall down for you and you fall down for me, that is play."
Those two scenes are symbolic during the uri.

good luck.

I really liked that Achebe book. But, I don't remember the specifics on chapter 12. You can look here for a study guide and chapter summary: http://pinkmonkey.com/search/achebe.asp
