If the other person insults you first, the absolute most annoying thing to do to them is to tell them you aren't afraid of them and that they are obviously not smart enough to say something intelligent if they have resorted to insulting language. Then you walk away. To ignore a person or tell them you forgive them for being rude will make them blow a gasket, too.
