It's honestly hard enough to mobilize LGBT members to affect positive change. I think 10 years from now gay marriage will be legal in most of the United States. The most likely course of events will be a legalization in the Supreme Court, individual states are unlikely to determine gay marriage as protected under the US Constitution (13th Amendment).

If you hang out on Yahoo Answers long enough you will realize that there are a lot of people who are opposed to gay marriage. And I think that the desire to grant gay people the right to marry should be balanced with concern that this law would not have the support of a majority of people, and forcing a law on a large population that disagrees should be done with caution. You don't want to just drive their bigotry underground, where they just strengthen themselves and their children.

Many people are not against it, I quite agree. But for it to be legalized, don't you think the problems come from the law people, themselves? No law has yet been passed to integrate homosexuals in US. maybe they are afraid that many prejudiced persons will be against that and therefore they are reluctant to go forth.

It's not legalized because, as Bush has taught us, what the public wants simply doesn't matter.
