No. My dirty-slut-of-an-ex-roommate's mother worked for Mary Kay. Having reps with daughters like that has caused me to shun the business forever...

If you have great people skill (i.e., you enjoy meeting/talking with people) and if you think sales is your cup of tea, then you'd do fine as a Mary Kay rep.
If you're asking if there's money to be made being a Mary Kay rep, that's entirely up to you. Remember this is not a salaried job so you really have to rely on your salesmanship to make the kind of money you want to make.
Just like any business, it has potentials.
Good Luck.

It depends on what you're looking at and what you're looking for. They make good money and people like the products. I have a mind block about them since the company was started when she (Mary Kay) discovered how soft her hands were after working in a leather tannery!?! Somehow that raised a red flag for me that a cosmetics company would be founded on the scary harsh chemicals used to tan the skins of dead animals! Alarming at best! Obviously they've come a long way but I want to know what is in the products I buy or sell so I'd want more info.
There's also Jafra Cosmetics or Herbalife which are both great companies. Jafra was better before Gillette bought them out but they still have excellent products and consultants make pretty good money.
Herbalife sells nutritional supplements, skin care, weight loss products and more. Among their developers are Nobel prize winning M.D.'s so the nutrition is sound. Consultants make good money and Supervisors even better money. Herbalife has the largest investment of the 3 companies mentioned here though.

Yes, and The business community agrees it has awarded her many prestige's awards including greats female entrepreneur in American History. Mary Kay's business plan is taught at Harvard. Mary Kay is one of the largest cosmetic companies in the world and has achieved leading brand status in the US. The sales force is grown to 1.5 and is in more then 30 markets worldwide.
If you are wondering if it is right for you then talk with a consultant and get more information. If you don't have one I would be happy to answer any question that would help you decide if it is right for you.

it is a great oppty if you are willing to work, like anything you get out what you put in, my mom was a mary kay consultant many years ago, she did well for part time work and loved it she made friends, money, etc... but never really devoted teh time to make it a real career, her manager was a top producer. I still use the products today I love them. If you treat it like a business you can do very well and make your own hours, doing something i assume you love. GOOD LUCK

Any business is only as good as the owner. Mary Kay has been around for decades and will be around for decades more. It takes a lot of hard work and persistance to get it build up.

I think MK WAS a good business, and a few select people are still doing well with it.
I worked it when it was a lot newer concept and women loved an excuse to get out of the house and go to a party. I sold a lot of product but the obstacles were getting people to book a party and the market in my area was totally saturated with it.
In my opinion, that ship has sailed. Their compensation plan is definately out of date and people would rather just go to a shop to buy their cosmetics now, as most are short of time.
What people are focusing on now is health and anti-aging. It's becoming a trillion dollar industry. The company I am with has doubled their sales every year for 3 years now, and even quadrupled their sales last year in Canada. That is unusual in this industry, but the product speaks for itself and you can market it many different ways.

I think Mary Kay is a great business. I am making plans to quit my full time job to pursue MK full time. It's not easy money, but if you work the business the way it was intended, it's good money. Just be prepared to work.

yrs ago ,i sold Mary Kay .
first you have to do 25 facials ,work under someone else ,the more you sell the more she makes.
you have to have the supply handy ,that means you have to buy ,before you sell .Avon makes you wait for two week's ,Mary Kay you sell and deliver same day .
it could cost you around 400.00 to start, and hope you sell all.
good luck.
