Is it legal for an apartment complex to evict a resident without reason. I was evicted from my apartment when I asked why, I was told "we don't have to give a reason as long as we give you 30 days" Can they do that

If you have no contract I think they can. But I am not an expert.

Most places in the US do not require an eviction to be for cause. There are, fortunately, some places that require a specifically defined reason for an eviction. Depending on where you live, it may be legal or not. See if your city has something like a "rent board" or some organization that serves tenants that you can ask.

look at your contract, terms are stated there, they are probably right. there are different laws in different states that apply to this, so check with your local courts or housing authority on more specifics.
