I am looking for a temp agency, within NYC, that will help me find jobs, to build my experience, and help me towards finding the right career for me. A temp agency that offers me companies to go from temp to permanent. And any more info that can be given about Temp agency's will be helpful since this is my first time. Thanks!

Though I'm not from NYC, I had worked for temporary agencies in the past. Sometimes the work assignment that the agency offers to the person is said to be 'temp to perm' but it wasn't really the case. Or perhaps the company that hired the temp agency merely said that it was 'potentially' a temp to perm position. Some people that have had temp jobs like that where they weren't hired think that it may be a way to get a temp applicant to physically come to that assignment. It's all speculation though.

It may not always be true, and I don't want to give you the wrong impression about how valuable the experience can be to temp at various places. I just don't want you to get your hopes up, and then have them dashed ;) I would just look in your local phonebook under 'jobs' or 'employment' and they may have listings of area places. I would just keep it anonymous on the net though :) Wishing you lots of luck!

I've done a lot of temp work. In fact I'm on a temp-to-perm job in Las Vegas now.

I've worked through several agencies. Robert Half Accountemps and Office Team kept me busy in several cities. There are a lot of good ones. Check the internet for reviews.

Just keep an open mind and be flexible. The more assignments you accept, the more you'll be called for new ones. If they offer you an assignment you don't want, you don't have to take it. I've found that they don't always match employees and jobs real wall, usually from a lack of communication.

Temping can be fun. It's opened some doors for me and I've made some good friends.

Good luck.

All Temp.Agencies should be able to help you. You may want to try to volunteer also some place for example your local hospitals, homeless shelters. This could also be a GREAT way to help you out on your resume. My self I have found out if I volunteer on my off days this really can help on my resumes, along with helping out the place where I volunteer .I also meet people who also give me leads to apply for jobs that I really have an interest in.
I have found out that if you do not like your job, you can become really depressed.
