Don't listen to other people's horror stories. Aren't you sick of hearing them by now?!?! I was!!
You were going to worry whether you were going to be enduced or not. That's normal. The unexpected is exciting and scary.
To be enduced, they just give you petocin and break your water. If your cervix is not dilated yet, it can make for a very long process, and a possible c section if over 24 hours. But that is not how it happens every time. I know examples of both sides. Both mothers are fine and so are the children.
Be brave. They know what they are doing. And girl, you have over a week. You could go into labor before then!!!
Best of luck!

I was induced with my first and I did have a really hard time, but after switching docs and telling him about my experience he thinks they may have done the epidural wrong. I have tons of friends that have been induced and they have all been just fine, no problems. Once you get induced, you will likely start contracting immediately and that will get your cervix ready. It may take a long time, I was induced at 9 am and had the baby at 1 am.
I have to agree with another person who answered, take the pain meds!!! I was so much happier after the excrutiating pain was gone, and it didn't really last that long. You will do just fine, tell your doc you are worried so that he/she might give you a few ambien for the nights before so that you can rest. Good Luck, you'll be GREAT!!!

OK...i was educed Feb 6 and had my baby Feb 8...it was a long wait!! it was my first baby and I'm glad i got educed i felt nothing until after my baby was born. i got my epidural at 1 cm. if you can i would get the pill that enduces you and then the iv. thats what i did because my cervix wasen ready and it helped because it slowly brings you into contractions and the iv makes the contractions come faster and harder! but to answer your question no i wouldnt worry just make the most fun out of it as you can there will most likly be alota waiting!!

I had my son naturally. It was long and hard. I decided to get induced with my daughter to avoid having her born on my divorced parents anniversary. it was a breeze. As soon as the pain got bad, they gave me a pain killer through my IV. After that wore off and I was dilated enough, they gave me the epidural. 2hrs later, I had my baby. Very easy. Don't be scared. My cervix was not ready, I wasn't dilated at all. i was just ready to have the baby. Stuff going wrong is not as common as the baby books make it seem. my mother was induced with two of us and didn't even get an epidural. She said it was a lot more painful, but it was bearable. Just hang in there. You'll get to see your baby, concentrate on that.

I was induced with both of my girls. My first delivery went awesome. Got an epideral...awesome. What I can tell you is take the pain meds they offer you. Don't try to be brave. Having done childbirth with and without, I can tell you that it's a much more comfortable experience with the pain meds. If anything, being induced doesn't take as long in most cases. Try not to be worried. Relax as much as you can...take some relaxing music with you, some warm socks, maybe a magazine...stuff to pass the time.
Good luck to you and congratulations.

I do not want to scare you but I have a friend who got induced for her 2nd child. Her first was a C-section, and she wanted to have natural birth this time. While she was in the hospital. after the inducing injection, she was talking with her husband and all of a sudden, he noticed that her pressure was going down. She was till very concious and talking, but her uterus had ruptured and she was bleeding internal. She went into immediate surgery to have the baby born (C-section, of course!). The baby was fine, but my friend nearly didn't make it. She stayed in the hospital for another 2 weeks.
If you had a C-section before, I wouldnt recommend this method. Then again, I'm sure your doc knows what he's doing.

YES more than you know. I have had 3 children and no matter what people say they never get any easier. as soon as you can sign your papers for an epidural. I can't stress enough. GET AN EPIDURAL. and don't forget keep God in your heart. ONLY HE WILL GET YOU THROUGH THIS. but in the end IT IS ALL WORTH IT. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR NEW BABY
