if your OB does not think it is safe to induce then it is not safe to induce. it also depends on what your cervix is like ... just give it a few days. by your next appointment it may be time to induce if it is necessary.

if it is safe for you to have sex, or a orgasm, that can trigger some things. walking as much as you can and nipple stimulation also help. but only if it is safe for you to do so.

CONGRATS ON YOUR BABY!

Most OB's will not induce until you are 1 - 2 wks post due date. It is usually closer to the 2 wk mark. Believe me I know how hard it is to wait but your doctor is doing what she believes to be best for you and your baby. Think of it this way, she could induce you at her convenience and not care about having a healthy baby, or she can wait until the signs are right ( dilation greater than 3, cervix effaced, loss of mucus plug, baby's head down and engaged, etc.) If she induces you before some of these things happen you will have a long hard painful labor and it might not even work. Trust her it's what she does sweets. I don't mean to bring you down but your baby is the important thing right? On the bright side you could start having contractions any MINUTE so walk, have sex (good sex!) practice your breathing exercises, read, rent and watch a great movie, walk some more, have more great sex. (if you husband/partner is not getting it done, do it yourself honey! A little masturbation never hurt anyone) You get the picture. The best thing! SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP because soon you will forget what that is!

Best of luck to you sweets and God bless you and your baby. I will pray that you have a delivery like mine 2 1/2 hours and here's baby!

Try a different doctor if yours won't they can rub a gel on your cervix to make it soften. Tell her or him that large babies run in your family.
