The generally-accepted way is to get rolling relatively gently, then mash the gas pedal once the clutch is fully engaged. Otherwise, you COULD destroy your transmission, but generally you'll toast the clutch, which usually isn't strong enough to handle the higher traction (this is why the Lamborghini Diablo has such lousy 0-60 times. If they gas it up before taking off, the clutch gets fried.) Your best bet is to let the clutch out quickly at low rpm (1500 or so), THEN put your foot in the firewall. So long as you shift cleanly and smoothly, you should be fine for all your other gear changes.

I'm not sure of the best way to launch an AWD vehicle, but what the other two guys said is not good. With AWD, you can't rev to 4000 and dump the clutch. That will guarantee you a new transmission and/or clutch.

Try looking up some articles on the Audi A4. Many car magazines like Car & Driver, Road & Track, etc. conduct tests and sometimes they tell you the best rev to hold it at and how to launch.

In accord with everyone else who answered, the best way to launch AWD is to "gradually" engage 1st gear, then romp it through all the others. Be careful on how hard to drive those things on a daily basis. I just swapped out a clutch on a 2003 EVO, and i'll tell you that it was the most time-consuming, annoying project I've ever completed. Happy launching, buddy.

Just launch it like you would any other car. If anything, they have more traction than FWD or RWD cars so it should be easier. If you spin the tires, then just let off the gas a little.

Well I will assume your talking a stick. If so just Rev it up and dump the clutch. When your done you can go back and pick up the pieces

Usually, when going to the grocery store or church, no launching is necessary
