Ok, so I work outside the home (part time) and my husband works a LOT. So I'm at home with the kids by myself a lot and doing homework, baths, dinner, ball practice, etc. So needless to say the housework gets neglected sometimes. My husband can't stand for things to be undone and will do whatever is needed when he gets home. So the everday things get done (either by him or myself) but stuff like dusting and scouring haven't been done in a while.

So today was my day off and I took the opportunity to do deep cleaning. He came in a little earlier than usual and obviously sees that it is spotless in here, but he hasn't even commented on it!!! LOL. Mainly I just wanted to vent. I mean come on, I spent HOURS cleaning (even baseboards). And he acts like he doesn't even notice.

Does this drive anyone else crazy?

Happens to me all of the time. I find myself pointing out what a great job that I've done just to hear him say "looks good". Frustrating.

Crazy is an understatement. I work part time same as you and have 2 kids, I know the routine. We are in the process of buying another house. I have let the house cleaning go. In the place of that I have been doing real decluttering. He notices nothing. Come one when I take 3 truck loads to Goodwill one would think he would see the difference in amount of stuff. I think they do see it but probably don't comment on it. I think they see it as our job.

Let me see if I understand this, the dusting was over due to be done, you just happen to have the day off so you did it, and you want what? you are sounding just like a woman, oh wait you are a woman how could i tell. So you spent a few hours dusting and you want it to be noticed that is so petty. You obviously have nothing more in your life then to be upset because you didn't get a stand ovation. yes i agree it would have been nice but its a little thing a very little thing.

Men are great aren't they at noticing things!
They notice when stuff looks like crap though.

I love it when my bf fixes something small in the house and has to call me from the other end of the house to congratulate him on the fine job he had just done - it's all about their ego.

All the time. If I wasn't around, this house would fall apart, literally. I don't even ask for a thanks anymore. I don't even tell her I do or fix things. All I want is for my kids to pick up their sh*t but she doesn't care because she and I have very different ideas of chores and responsibility.
I would let him know you busted you a s s today and see what he says.

It would drive me crazy. The best possible thing for you to do is let him know how you feel. Tell him that you want him to show you more appreciation for the little (big) things that you do. Then, when he does, give his life a little more spice. Rekindle the fire of romance.

I'm divorced....that should tell you how crazy it drove me LOL!! Seriously though, it's things like that, that are unacceptable. Talk to him....tell him that your efforts today deserved at least an honorable mention....and that you did it not only for yourself and the kids, but for him. Let him know that it makes you feel unappreciated otherwise.
