what noj said. u havent convinced the actual riders that u are sane enough to listen to advice on how to handle and stay alive on any bike. u sound about 15 goin on 10, and u actually think momma is gonna trust u solo on a bike that can kill u easier than any cage....and yes, even a 50cc scooter can get up enough speed that if u splash it, u'll be in a casket.

Now I'm assuming you're a teenager under the legal age.
Well, first off bb4life, you should make some money and buy your own bike. Not only will this indicate your seriousness to your parent, but it will teach you responsibility, frugality, etc. etc. etc....all the stuff I'm sure you've been lectured about over and over....but which is still true.
And if you get a bike that needs some work done on it, there's even more life experience for you. My first dirt bike when I was 12 years old was a mongrel beyond belief...and was probably 90% duct tape and baling wire.
If you can (and want to), start out on a dirt bike. You can bite it on a dirt bike with less damage (to both you and the bike). And you are going to bite it...trust me. But dirt bikes teach a lot of control factors that plain street bikes don't.
And then I can't stress enough how important it is to take a MSF class. In Wyoming it only costs $15 for a weekend class...and passing the class waives the motorcycle road test requirement for a MC license. Your state may have a similar programme. And taking the class will reinforce your seriousness to your parent.
Off topic... http://www.bodybuilding.com just in case you haven't been there yet.

HMMMMMMMM...... it is a issue. mum and dad could properly be such sticks contained in the airborne dirt and dirt. some how they have this strange expectation of their superbly conceived baby alive and correctly for, HS commencement, college, Marriage, Grand babies etc. besides the undeniable fact that, I do understand the favor to R I D E! contained in the wind, black ribbon myth, countless horizon etc. So...... have mom stress you to the cycle save. coach her the motorbike you want. i wish it isn't a Kaw Ninja 250. It seems a lot too formidible even threatening. coach her a Yamaha Virago 250. those are wonderful and characteristic huge attraction aspect. do not coach her a black motorbike as grandpa informed her in reality tattooed thuggs journey black motorcyles. enable her see a poster displaying a pair college babies driving jointly all smiley and wonderful. ( a replay of hondas well-known and extremely useful classified ads in existence mag, circa 1963). Then hit with "aww shucks mom, its a lot interesting, i'd be a clean man or woman and particularly feed the dogs and do my chores etc". reliable luck. ( ill wager it truly works, mom's are VERY tender hearted). Then mom will be an best buddy to artwork on dad.

Forget it, Junior. I'm assuming you're trying to get your mommy to buy YOU a bike, yes? What are you, 16? You already seem to think that because you can master instant messaging despite having an entire keyboard to work with that you posess the intelligence to handle a motorcycle, but you'd be WRONG.
I'd even bet you want a freakin' Gixxer, too. Just like all the other squids you want so desperately to be like! "Please, mommy, buy me a Gixxer so all the other boys will think I'm cool and be my friend!"
Your mom has no idea what you're talking about, and would crap herself if she found out that insurance for a squid like you will run her about $700/month for the first two months before you wad yourself up. You'll be "hella" dead 'n stuff, cuz u can't ride and all that.

You need to show you parents that you are serious and going to be responsible, take the msf course first it will get you your lic. involve your parent in a search for a user friendly motorcycle and do not buy a liter-bike, if you are going to commute to work check out the sv650 or Honda 599 both real fun but are not as scary as a full fledged race replica like a zx6r or cbr600rr that will help to soften the blow to your parents, but the main thing is involve them tell them why and be patient, this is going to be emotional and not going to be easy

The safety course is one of best things to do. I've been riding for over 20 years and I still learned a few things when I took the course 5 years ago.
You also have to prove that you are mature enough to handle the responsibilty.

Gas mileage is #1 on my list. MSF courses are free if you walk on the first day of class. It also teaches you every threat on the roads and will make you a better car driver.
