So the basic point of a cover letter is to explain the skills and experience you have in order to get a job (in this case an internship), right? So what do you do if you have no relevant experience? Just provide a reason why you don't and hope for the best? Or should I not even bother?

even if you have no experience, list your skills and qualities..such as im a hard worker, love working with people, etc. and i think my skills would be an asset to your company..its okay if you don't have experience..everyone has to start somewhere and if you mention that you have ceratin skills im sure you will be alright..if you want you could also say that while i don't have any job experience...i do have many qualities and skills that would be an asset to your company..well hope i helped =]
