i still don't understand the difference, other than the fact that one is shorter than the other, and one is more deep than the other.
which of these books are novellas, and which are novels?
The Hound of the Baskervilles - Arthur Conan Doyle
The Master Puppeteer - Katherine Paterson
The Call of the Wild - Jack London
Animal Farm - George Orwell

A) Novel
B) Novella
C) Novel
D) Novella

A "Novella" is a story, shorter than a "Novel" but longer than a "Novelette" which used prose to tell a morally uplifting story, the purpose of which is to teach the reader a valuable lesson in life, rather than to merely entertain the reader.

Try comparing 'The Old Man and The Sea' with 'Moby Dick'. Both have a story line both have characters, both have a moral message.
'The Old Man and The Sea' makes You aware of the strengths of Human Nature and not just the power of Human Determination. Make sense to You?
